RWANDA
Rwanda, a tiny, landlocked republic in Equatorial Africa, Rwanda lies on the eastern rim of the Albertine Rift and the watershed between Africa¹s two largest river systems: the Nile and the Congo. Often called the "land of a thousand hills", Rwanda is a mountainous country with a moist, temperate year-round climate.
Rwanda has a number of unique delights to offer travelers. Parc National des Volcans in the Virunga volcanoes is home to the Mountain Gorillas to which Dian Fossey dedicated her life. Nyungwe Forest, one of the largest montane forests in Central Africa, is renowned for its large troops of colobus monkeys and rich variety of orchids. Akagera National Park is a savannah park with elephants, hippo and crocodile. Lake Kivu is a beautiful inland sea enclosed by steep terraced hillsides. There are a large variety of birds. Rwanda has a rich culture with its second city, Butare, having one of the finest cultural museums in Africa.
RWANDA TRIPS
This safari takes you to two gorilla parks – Parc National des Volcans (PNV) home to 340 of the 720 Mountain Gorillas that survive in world today. It is also the location where Dian Fossey studied Mountain Gorillas for 20 years. There are four groups of Mountain Gorillas located in the Rwandan sector of the Virunga Volcanoes. They are the Susa Group, Sabinyo Group, Group Thirteen, and Amahoro Group. Trekking times to reach each group vary from two to seven hours depending upon their movements. Most days there are several groups within two-hour treks of the car park. During the wet season trekking times are reduced to as little as 20 minutes as the gorillas move to lower elevations to feed.
Explore both Uganda and Rwanda on a 12 day safari. Uganda is a unique experience for those searching for a new adventure that offers more than just game viewing from a four-wheel drive vehicle. Begin the safari by becoming acquainted with buffalo, elephant, red colobus monkeys and other African species. Cruise down the Kazinga Channel and view some of the highest concentrations of hippo in Africa. Finally, travel to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga/Nkuringo, venture on foot into the forests and mountains of Uganda to come face to face with the Mountain Gorilla, one of the rarest species on earth.

This safari 3 day safari take you to Akagera National Park with its beautiful undulating plains, its woodlands and sprawling lakes and wetlands. The game in the park is steadily increasing, with elephant, buffalo, giraffe, hippo, crocodile and different antelope beginning to be seen. Akagera has a good selection of birds.

You can also climb a volcano, visit the remains of Dian Fossey’s grave and the endangered golden monkey. You continue to Nyungwe, in southern Rwanda, a massive afro-montane forest, the largest in Central Africa. The forest has 13 primate species including chimpanzee and large groups of colobus monkeys.
