8 Days / 7 Nights: Namibia Desert and the Coast

Discover Namibia’s wilderness hotspots on this 8 day/7 night desert safari. Spend one overnight on the Desert Express Train in a twin-bedded cabin with en suite facilities. You can also witness an afternoon lion feed at Okapuka Game Ranch and a dune excursion before flying to the quaint coastal town of Swakopmund. Enjoy two nights at Sossusvlei and explore the desert.

Day 1: Thursday or Sunday              Arrive Windhoek
Upon arrival at Hosea Kutako (Windhoek International) Airport you will be met and transferred to Hotel Heinitzburg. Accommodation is on a bed and breakfast basis.

Day 2: Friday or Monday                  Sossusvlei.
Depart Windhoek at  in the afternoon via the scenic Spreetshoogte Pass to the upmarket Namib Naukluft Lodge. Dinner, bed and breakfast at Namib Naukluft Lodge. (B, D)

Day 3: Saturday or Tuesday Sossusvlei.
After breakfast depart on an excursion to the over 300 meter high dunes at Sossusvlei. The scenery in the early morning hours is spectacular. Enjoy the pastel and ever-changing colors, while your breakfast is served under one of the camelthorn trees. Visit the Sesriem Canyon before returning to the Lodge for lunch. Participate in a ‘sundowner’ drive to the marble mountains on this farm during the late afternoon. Overnight with fallboard at Namib Naukluft Lodge.  (B, L, D)

Day 4: Sunday or Wednesday           Swakopmund
Today depart to Swakopmund through the Namib Desert, arrive there at approximately 13h00. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight on a bed and breakfast basis at the Swakopmund Hotel & Entertainment Centre.  (B)

Day 5 & 6: Mon/Tue or Thu/Fri       Swakopmund
Day at leisure, you may opt for several optional tours offered (Walvis Bay, Cape Cross or a Desert Tour – not included in the tour price /please book in advance) or spend the days at leisure in this premier coastal holiday resort. Overnight on a bed and breakfast basis at the Swakopmund Hotel & Entertainment Centre.  (B)

 
Day 7: Wednesday or Saturday         Desert Express Train
Today you depart on the Desert Express Train from Swakopmund at 13h30 or 14h30. The train stops for a siding at the Kahn Valley for a guided tour. Once back on the train, the evening and a superb three course dinner is offered. (B, D)

Day 8: Thursday or Sunday              Depart Windhoek
This morning the train arrives at Okapuka Game Ranch, where you will be taken on a game drive. The Desert Express arrives at the historical Windhoek Station at approximately 10:30am or 12:30pm. You may opt to extend you safari adventure to Victoria Falls or Cape Town. (B)
