TOURIST INFORMATION

Health and entry requirements
A valid passport is required and visas are required by some nationalities. We recommend clients check requirements with visa authorities well in advance. A yellow fever vaccination is required for travelers over 1 year of age traveling from infected areas (the endemic zones as listed by the World Health Organization) there is currently no malaria risk in Mauritius.

Clothing and climate
Beach and casual wear is suitable year round. Sun protection and hats are strongly advisable. In the winter months (July – Sept) the evenings can be cool. In the central part of the island, 600 m above sea level, the average max day time temp varies from about 20 – 26c. Along coastal areas, temps are generally 3 - 5c higher. The western and northern regions are warmer and relatively drier than the east and south.

Currency

The unit of currency is the Mauritius Rupee. Banks, hotels, restaurants and tourist shops generally accept credit cards.

Electric current
The power supply throughout the island is 220 volts.
